Nigel Morris

I originally trained as a Graphic Designer, Illustrator and worked in the industry for a number of years. I later went on to study Print and 3D Design on a Bachelor of Design course at Liverpool and a Certificate of Education, to teach Art and Design.  

I have been Artist in Residence at Magenta Gallery and at Greasby Arts and Crafts, teaching Watercolours and Acrylics, I have also taught Design Technology, at Birkenhead 6^th Form College and Perspective, Colour Theory and Illustration at Wirral Metropolitan College, Oil and Watercolour at West Cheshire College and Watercolour at Blueberry Learning and am currently a freelance Artist, Designer, also teaching Watercolour, Oils and Acrylics at Wirral 3Ls.  

I have exhibited in solo and group shows in London and the Northwest since 1978.  

I work in a variety of media and subject areas; these include Oil, Acrylic, Watercolour and Mixed media, Aviation, Landscape, Marine, Wildlife and Abstract.  In 1993 and 1994 I had work purchased by Avro International, British Aerospace.  In 1997 and 2007 the Grosvenor Museum and Art Gallery, Chester purchased work to hang in their Contemporary Art Collection. I have work hanging in many private collections throughout the U.K., Canada, U.S.A. and Australia.  In 2004 I was commissioned by BAE Systems, Airbus Industries for a painting of the first A380 Airbus wing being transported down the River Dee.  In 2008 and 2009, I was commissioned to paint Christmas cards for the Royal Air Force Association.

In 1997 I was awarded the M. Graham Paint Co. Award for a painting exhibited at the National Acrylic Painters Association Exhibition in Tacoma U.S.A.  In 2000 I was awarded the N.A.P.A. Best Contemporary Painting Award at the Durham Exhibition. In 2005 was awarded the N.A.P.A. Best Contemporary Painting Award at the St Ives Exhibition.  In 2006, Best on Show at N.A.P.A. Exhibition Obsidian Gallery Buckinghamshire, joint 2nd in the Wirral Society of Arts 2007 and 2008 Open Exhibition and 1st and 3rd at the 2006 Speke Aviation Art Exhibition.  

I am member of the Wirral Society Arts, Deeside Art Group, Irby Artist Association, Wallasey Arts Society, The Artist Group, North Wales Art Society and Associate of the Guild of Aviation Artists.
