We have been waiting for confirmation from St Chad’s Hall for the Monday afternoon painting sessions and just received it. They start on 13th September and run every week for 13 weeks.

The following rules will apply to both the Monday Group, and to the First Tuesday Group ( details later) until such time as we are able to return to normal: –

Everyone will use sanitiser upon entering the hall, and will fill in a form detailing their name and contact telephone number.

Attendance at the Monday Group is only available to those members who were registered with Marj Jones as members of that group last year. Please do not bring friends/visitors. If you did not register (and pay Monday Group subs) last year, and you wish to register to join the Group, then please contact Marj Jones on 07599 274523 .

The kitchen will not be in use….please bring your own refreshments!

There will be access to only one toilet (the Disability user one) it is also the source of water for painting. Wipes will be provided in the toilet……you must use them to wipe touched surfaces before you vacate the toilet.

There will be a refreshment break halfway through the period. You should mask-up before wandering around the room.

At the end of the session, wipes will be provided. You must wipe down your own table and chair, and fold them away in the storage area (ask for assistance if needed), but do not leave the building without you have done so!! You must also collect all your own waste materials, place them in a bag provided, and take them home!!

The seating arrangements are as shown in the sketch below. Two persons per table, but each person will sit diagonally opposite their partner. Choice of seating will be on a first-come basis each week. You will not be allowed to claim a particular table or seat for your exclusive use.

The committee thank you for your perseverance and patience in waiting for a return to the Hall.

News from Midland Fine Framing (formally at Melrose Hall once a month)

permanently abandon them.

We are now offering a postal service whereby orders can be made over the phone, via email or through our website for standard and non standard frames and mounts.  Please take a look at our website midlandfineframing to see all our frame styles, mount colours and framing accessories we have available, contact us for a quote. We would like to thank all our customers past and present for their continued support over the years. And look forward to future orders from you.

Some good news that might be of interest to you, from Joe McGillivray at West Kirby Arts Group (WKAG).    All related matters to Joe please.

Hi Everyone,

After 14 months I’m really pleases to let you know that I intend to restart our West Kirby Art Group Classes!

I’m going to run three art classes on a Monday – starting Monday 7th June so I’m reducing my teaching to one day and this means that I won’t be running classes for Figure Drawing. The classes are as follows:

Still Life Drawing and Painting 10 – 12pm

Painting Challenge 1 – 3pm

Painting Techniques and Ideas 4 – 6 pm

The Art Centre has received Arts Council funding to ensure that the premises meet the highest COVID prevention standards.

I would be very grateful if you could let me know which class you would like to attend – providing me with a first and second preference would be especially helpful.

Many thanks and all the best,

News Item 16 Members enjoyed an excellent demonstration on zoom by professional artist and tutor Mark Warner. The finished painting will be on sale on his website –

News Item Our facebook page has changed and is now It will be monitored by Barbara Meynell and used initially to publicise the online Spring Exhibition. Please join by clicking on the link. Although the old page (named irby artists) is still on facebook, it was set to private and was unmonitored, so noone could join, post or participate in discussion. Anyone can join the new group as it is public, but participant approval is switched on. This means that Barbara will review people before they post or comment for the first time. In this way we will raise the profile of the group and many more people will know about our online exhibition by receiving information in their feed. They will then share from their page…

Dont forget to join the new group page, and share!

News Item On Saturday 24th April Mark Warner is demonstrating an Acrylic Seascape painting online between 10.30 and 12.30. Zoom joining details will be sent out to members by email.

News Item – 5th March 2020 – Irby Arts can now take payment for exhibition fees, membership etc. using credit/debit cards including contactless.
